1911

The First Step

Sundaram Iyengar leaves a secure banking job to build something better: reliable, dignified transport. With two buses, TV Sundaram Iyengar & Sons was born, founded on trust and respect for people’s time.

1961

Started Component Manufacturing

The second generation expands into automotive components, strengthening technical expertise while building a rare company culture rooted in care, continuity, and belonging.

1979

A Nation on the Move

The TVS 50 launches as India’s first two-seater moped. Simple, affordable, and iconic, it becomes a symbol of urban mobility for millions.

1982

Racing Enters the DNA

TVS Racing becomes India’s first factory racing team. Track-to-road innovation begins fueling decades of performance, technology transfer, and championship success across disciplines.

Mid-1990s

Sustainability Built In

TVS creates the world’s first in-campus automotive bio-reserve, protecting 900+ species while running operations on renewable energy, circular waste processing, and harvested rainwater.

2001

A New Corporate Chapter

TVS Motor Company Ltd. is formally incorporated, marking a new phase of structured growth and international ambition.

2002

Global Recognition for Quality

TVS receives the Deming Application Prize, one of the world’s highest distinctions in Total Quality Management confirming its commitment to excellence and customer trust.

2006

Expanding Across Asia

TVS opens its first overseas manufacturing plant in Indonesia and enters three-wheeled mobility, strengthening its role in urban transportation.

2013

Partnership with BMW Motorrad

TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad enter a global strategic partnership to jointly develop and manufacture sub-500cc motorcycles, creating a shared 310cc platform powering models such as the TVS RR 310 and BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS.

2020

A Legendary British Icon Joins

TVS acquires Norton Motorcycles, welcoming one of the most storied names in European motorcycling into the group.

2021

Electric and Urban

The Electric Shift Begins. TVS takes decisive steps into electric mobility, laying the foundation for a more sustainable future.
TVS launches its electric vehicles and enters micromobility through a partnership with Swiss e-bike pioneer EGO Movement.

Entering the Super-Premium Segment

TVS expands into the super-premium space, blending performance, design, and craftsmanship at a higher level of expression.

Strengthening European E-Mobility

TVS acquires Swiss E-Mobility Group (SEMG), gaining leading e-bike brands and a strong distribution network across the DACH region.

Premium Electric Scooter Launch

TVS Enters Europe

TVS officially enters Europe, choosing Italy as its gateway. A meeting of cultures shaped by family values, motor passion, and craftsmanship marking the start of a new European chapter.

Global Engineering Hub in Italy

TVS acquires 100% of Engines Engineering, establishing a Global Centre of Excellence in Bologna to accelerate premium design, engineering, and next-generation mobility solutions.

EV Expansion in Southeast Asia

TVS integrates strategic assets, IP, and talent from Singapore-based ION Mobility, strengthening its electric mobility capabilities and accelerating growth across ASEAN markets.
